Safety Management Made Easy
As an OSHA Consultant for the state/feds I discovered many small to medium size companies simply don't have the budget to hire a full time safety professional. Often times they must just hand off that safety hat to an employee who shows a little initiative and let them figure it out as they go. I created the "sharp starter kit" for employers who seriously wanted to improve their safety programs and thus their bottom line. It's packed full of written programs, examples, ideas, forms, and other safety management necessities. I share these with clients and sometimes even post a "freebie or two" for you to download.
Need Help with Safety Management?
If you need help managing safety but don't want or need a full time safety manager, hiring a safety consultant can be a simple solution.
Safety Success depends on the Safety Leadership
Leadership is the ability of a single individual, through their actions to motivate others to higher levels of achievement ~ author unknown
We are investing in tomorrows leaders and offer Safety Leadership training and many other safety consulting services to motivate your employees, supervisors, and managers to truly step up for safety so that safety can be integrated into your daily operations. Deborah offers over 30 years experience in Safety Management and Leadership skills as well as extensive knowledge of the OSHA regulations. She authored the SHARP starter kit which OSHA Consultation gives to employers to utilize as they implement their comprehensive Safety & Health Management Program. The kit is full of sample policies, forms, and other programs that cover the then four major elements of an effective Safety/Health Management System. Deborah also was featured in an OSHA-PBS video about the DeBruce Grain Elevator Explosion in Kansas and inspections following State Fair fatality and the Barton Solvents explosion. She is experienced in both General Industry and Construction and worked more than 10 years in the construction field advising contractors and sub contractors of simple solutions to safety issues on their job sites

OSHA Logs review
Common reasons companies make the “high injury list” by OSHA
-
Not all companies are on the list though because they are “dangerous employers.”
-
While the statistical DART approach seems to make sense, it can penalize companies who don’t understand the reporting requirements, or small employers who may experience several serious injuries in a year causing the DART rate to quickly escalate.
How companies end up on the OSHA “high injury list” for inspections
-
Inadvertently record injuries not required to be reported on the OSHA 300 log
-
Incorrectly in a given year
-
Not completing the required forms (automatic inclusion on list)
-
Companies don’t know they are on the list and don’t take corrective action
-
Many employers assign the task of completing OSHA 300 logs to clerical personnel who may not be familiar with OSHA recordkeeping criteria.
-
We routinely discover employers have adequate safety programs but resulting in placement on the Hit List.
